Robert Schumannâ€™s Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood) contains a piece entitled <em>Pleading Child</em>, where the melody repeats itself just like a pleading child. And you wonâ€™t know if the wish was granted until the next movement. This was an illustration for The Chicago Symphonyâ€™s <a title="Ravinia" href="http://www.ravinia.org/" target="_blank">Ravinia Festivals</a>. I felt that the rain in the background was a perfect metaphor.</p>
