When Kids Discover magazine asked me to illustrate the process by which a wound heals, I pretty much knew how I wanted to approach it. The only thing that plagued me was how to replicate the whorled pattern of fingerprints—until I uncovered some old topographic maps. If you look closely, some of the elevation callouts are still visible. And of course, no illustration is complete without the occasional pun. A printable poster for the classroom is also available on Etsy. (Text © Kids Discover Skin)

What a wonderfully clever illustration! That’d be great for adults too. Nothing like using creative means to make the memorization process a little easier!
THX Adrienne, I like to employ mnemonic devices whenever possible. Makes the learning experience that much better.
